use anything you want pal, depends if your doing a quick tidy up.... or a respray of the bay, hammerite looks ok, but we warned it can apparently react if you come to paint over it later on... if you have the engine out, or have the time to mask everything up you cant beat the finish of a spray job

I just used some high temperature satin black for mine, followed by a quick dusting of regular gloss black, held up fine so far.

If you mean the bay rather than the engine, underseal looks quite good if you use the right brand. Hides imperfections makes it look uniform throughout. Get a drop of petrol on it though it goes really gunky  Plus it never goes that hard so if you scuff it you might get your favourite shirt messy :D

Worth adding my local aston martin garage underseal the engine bays of V8s back to db4s ^^

someone painted mine with hammmerite before i bought it,it looks quite shocking, lots of runs, when i have the engine out at the weekend to do a swap and tidy up, im going to have to strip all the hammerite off, as itll react with the spray paint i intend to use.

Whilst brush hammerite will be easier to apply, the finish you will get via a spray finish, even a tin, will be far superior.

You will have to do more in the way of removing items and masking though, so it depends on how much time you have and, how much work you want to do.

Either way, good preperation will always yeild a better finish.

Good luck

Steve
