I scrapped an old motorbike frame a couple of months ago, just dropped it off at the local breakers and sent the V5 off, got a letter back a few weeks laters saying "Thankyou for letting us know you're no longer the keeper of this vehicle" Looks like I was just in time Phew!

The point of these end of life vehicle places is to make sure the hazardus bits of the car, (battery, fuel, fluids, tyres etc) are disposed of properly, but, obviously if you've only got a shell you haven't got any of that!

I can see approved places charging a fortune for this service as there's no choice other than to get rid of it through them. So they're going to win by charging you for safe disposal of the nasty bits, then win by selling on the scrap metal!

Hi, I think Motorcycles are exempt, only Cars Vans and 3 Wheelers at the mo !
