Hi,
i have taken my front panel back to bare metal so i can stone guard it and want to put something on it to stop the rust reappearing. i have seen hammerites kurust but was wondering if anyone had used anything better? i also want to put it on my sills before i stone guard them.

thanks in advance phil

Paint the bare metal with por15. It drys rock solid and seals the metal from moisture so it can't rust. It also can't be chipped or cracked off.

Then you can stonechip or underseal over that as you wish.

As far as I know its an mail-order product only. Although they may sell something in stores somewhere although I imagine it would be in the US.

i would though hammerite chips easily if you u se por15 over clean metal ie.no rust then it adheres better over metal ready (a metal etch) I get mine from FROST and it works but i don't know how paints like celly or 2 pack take to por15 get in touch with FROST they will tell you ok

I couldn't say as I have never used hammerite. I know POR15 is super strong though. I still have some on my arm from when I did my subframes almost a month ago. I just cant get it off.

thanks for all the replies. por15 it is then. has anyone painted over it and does it need priming as i was going to do por 15, then stone chip then primer, then paint then laquer. that sould hopefully stop any rust returning and hopefully stop the sills from rusting. very good forum this lol

thanks again phil
