.

You need around 90bhp to crack 100mph, a 60bhp mini will get to 90mph maybe.

my minis got nowhere near 90bhp at the mo, probably about 60 at the moment, ive had 106mph, gps speed, just took a while to get there, lol, was on a long runway .

Torque and power are two different things.

Oh I know it is on the road, I have had it upto 118mph on the road though.

How fast is fast, well that is an age old question that many people try to answer. I guess the only viable answer is, what is the fastest you have ever been? and when you go faster than that, Thats fast!!!! It also depends on what you are driving and what you can handle at speed. I drive a Skyline GTS-T as an every day car which has been modified to 400 BHP at the wheels and does a standing quater in 12.6 secs, so i guess thats fast so driving a mini, any mini with whatever mods is going to be slow for me. At the end of the day, its not how fast the car is but more how it puts the power on the road. Its no good having 200 bhp and all you get is wheel spin because the guy with 100 bhp next to you at the lights is going to get away clean and leave you for dead. By the time you catch up to him, Which you will do, the race is already done and you have lost, not only the race but pride as well. And in some cases money too.

So Torque = power, power = speed

to much of one or the other just means YOU LOST, you have to get a balance of the two, and that dont come cheap.

i'd agree with that, it's the reason i don't run mine at full boost on the roads, any more than 15psi and it really struggles for traction. 15psi in mine is about 150 @ wheels

Just cause I said on the road doesn't mean it was a public one ^_^ It was done a few week's ago at Manby Motorplex along one of the long straights.

150 at the wheels, what is it you drive?

I run 0.7 bar which is just below the standard boost of 0.75 for a GTS-T. The reason i do that is because of traction. Tech spec as follows:

Forge rods and pistons, Pon cams, hybrid FMIC, custom top mount manifold - downpipe and system, T3/T4 hybrid turbo, 38mm external waste gate, screemer pipe, HKS injectors, GTR fuel pump, Apexi ECU, GREDDY type s BOV (venting), custom cooler pipework and a Apexi AFC to monitor it all. it gives the 400 but the low boost because at the moment she still leans out up the rev range if i run any more. (soon to be sorted). I want to get into 1.5 bar poss 2 bar of boost.

Anyway we digress, how fast is to fast mmmmmm

My teminal is 126.3, i know that doesnt sound all that much for a car like the skyline, but i am only running 0.7 bar. the size and weight of the car also plays a large factor as it is not striped out, its still my dayly drive car. The car has not been set up for drag racing, ie camber, caster and corner weights.

On the rollers at Santapod 2 years ago, befor big injectors and GTR fuel pump:

On my way to work this morning my car was flying along, got to 5k in 4th (2.9 diff with 13" wheels) on 1/2 throttle (998 turbo).

When I got out of the car is was apparent why it was so fast, the wind almost blew me over, amazing how much difference it made.

I've done 120mph on my cbr 600 by accident just overtaking on the motorway  I've been far more careful since - there's a reason for speed limits, and I don't want a ban!

It's all about acceleration in my opinion :P Spec on the bike is 0-60mph in 3.4s or something.
