It isn't lightened, runs 12" wheels and drinks 95 unleaded.
But then I killed the engine trying to make 110. Doh!

as people have said getting above 90-100 is the big issue as the air resistance goes up infinitely as your speed increases.
my main problem is -
1 the aerodynamics. ie none plus a cube cab which dark scamp is lucky enough not to have
2 the gearbox i have is off a city-e and has a diff ratio of 2.95 waayy too long for the engine. (it will pull 75 in third)
but i have plans youll see you'll all see....... ahahahahahahha

its a mini its never going to be mega fast, unless you have a vtec ot something like that in it. but when you 5inches from the floor it makes up for the lack of speed as it feels faster
You don't need a Vtec to make a mini fast. In fact, look at the 14 mile times of A-series turbo powered minis and alternative engined minis. The A-series are faster.

The faster is accells from 0-100 or 50-100 the better.
My 998 is yet to make 100, i set off 9 months ago.

Fast for a production pushrod engine is 256mph.

Southy, the speed it makes on the rolling road is totally irrelavent, as it doesn't have to overcome any road resistance.
Oh I know it is on the road, I have had it upto 118mph on the road though.

Would love to get my car down there with matt's timing gear to see how it really stacks up. I've had it pulling to the 7.5k limiter in 4th on a few occassions with relative ease, and pretty quickly too. Would like to see what that works out to really.
I definately agree though, 0-60 and 20-70 ish are far better for measuring how quick a car actually is in day to day terms.

is that really true wil?
i thought the top alt engine minis were well into the 12/11's?

what about denis at 11.9 ahhh hold on! ,you mean with rd tyres etc ?i think the spaceframed jobbies might be Robert, but most of the road going non a series of a smiliar spec to ours aren't any quicker.

Well assuming that they are on road tyres and front mounted, there are faster A series. I was really trying to mak ethe point that A Vtec etc is not ultimate fast.

I think a standard weight spi, 695kg plus a persons weight, lets be kind and say 90kg.
A healthy engine with 90hp at the flywheel.
Might yield....
A 0-60 in 9 seconds.
A quarter of a mile in 17 seconds at about 80ish.
Top speed, who knows? Does it matter?

Where sort of spec would be needed to get a mini to 60 in the 6 seconds area?

using an online calculator from one of my 1/4 miles slips, mine does it in 5.9 seconds. although it might be better than that when i manage to get a run in with the car working properly.
