Yes, but remember your spedo could be 10% out, Your rev counter could also be out. A 5mph tail wing would add 5mph to any speed you managed and even a very slight down hill can have a massive effect.

You need around 90bhp to crack 100mph, a 60bhp mini will get to 90mph maybe.

cracked a 102 on my SPi (with stage 1) with 73 bhp! Driving home on the autobahn (well at least i hope it was an autobahn).

Any way the road was incredible smooth! The mini had a bit more to give, but to be fair it was more than enough for me!

In a reasonably light weight shell a revvy around 120bhp will get you

down the quarter mid to late 14`s with a terminal of 95-100mph.
0-60 in around 6 and a half seconds.

I don`t know what the top end was on that last engine, but on a 3.7 13 inch wheels it sore on occasions around 7800 in top.

I did Avon Race way a few years ago in our classic before it was supercharged, the spec was;

Weight 740kgs
1380cc - 85bhp at the flywheel
3.2 Metro turbo diff
13" wheels

Standing quarter mile in 16.4 sec 85mph in 3rd gear. Gearing was too high to go any faster...

Standard fuel used.

My completely standard 998cc on standard steel 12" wheels did 100mph (speedo reading) on an incline with my friend in aswell. We flew past his girlfriend in her 1.4 corsa.

Going by the sat nav and having done this at night on various straight level roads I have hit 118mph holding it just below the red line and running 12psi of boost bearing in mind I am running 16" wheels standard box standard clutch with 1.041:1 drop gears, oh and useing millers Turbo adative, without this the engine pinks at 7psi. Unless useing BS4040 leaded petrol.

I think those are the ratios. The top end could be more if I changed the final drive to a shorter ratio but the get up and go puts a smile on my face.

I've got a 1380 Mini which has a lightened crank, ultralight flywheel and backplate, running a stage 4 spec head which has 35/31mm Rimflow valves, with a Kent 286 cam with a SC box and a 3.2 diff.. This made bang on 100bhp with 90lbs ft on the rolling road topping out at 121mph. Maximum torque reading was at 71mph and it accelerates like a freight train when booted at that speed, ideal for a quick over take on the motorway :dontgetit:

Southy, the speed it makes on the rolling road is totally irrelavent, as it doesn't have to overcome any road resistance.

My old 1380 at 94bhp was dead level up to 100mph with a mk4 golf gti turbo.

The shell has now been lightened loads more, and it's making 115bhp, and it really does go very well indeed. it'll absolutely destroy a 205 1.9GTi and other 80's hatches, although I wouldn't say it's 'real world fast' still.

my A3 turbo dailly with a £250 remap is still miles faster

its a mini its never going to be mega fast, unless you have a vtec ot something like that in it. but when you 5inches from the floor it makes up for the lack of speed as it feels faster
