How Fast Is Fast?

But how fast would a 90 or 100 hp mini be? I am thinking of adding something like a supercharger but Id like to know what your opinion is.
What does a mini with around 100 hp feel like?
Vmax sells a supercharger kit that claims to add 30 hp, so Id like to know what it would feel like!
Thanks,
Jeff

60bhp will generally take 12 to 13 secs to get to 60mph and maybe 90mph.

i was cheating a bit as i was drafting a 911 turbo!
i was about 180km from home but it still made it back on 3 cylinders!
it cost me a new block, new pistons, new valves and new rocker gear so i wont be doing that again - was well worth it though to break the 200kmh mark, had been trying for a while!

analysis on the failed valve suggests that had the fuel been 97RON as it was supposed to be, the failure may not have occurred, but you're never sure what you get at the pumps in malaysia!

Biggest problem is my pickup is not so stable at high speeds.

To me the fastest car is one that goes from 0 to 60 the fastest, plus how fast it is 50 to 80, as this is real world performance. What a car does flat out is generally meaningless for road use. My subaru will by all accounts do 150mph, but I've never proved it.
A mini can get good 0 to 60 and upto 80 mph times because of lightness and relatively low gearing, but as above you start needing LOTS of power to get 120+.

How fast is fast for a Mini? I am running probably about 60hp in a standard 1.3i engine (1275 injected I think!)

I thought an sc would add more than that.
A well setup mini with good torque feels pretty quick through the twisty bits. I have a 1293 with stage2 head and hif44 and there is very smooth torque and it gets to 50 pretty quick. I'm guessing it's putting out 70-80 bhp or so. Never had it on a RR though. Would like to go to 1330 or 1380 with 276/286 cam and big valve head. Should fairly fly then.
Loosing weight will make a big difference.

driver
quickshift?
gear ratios
tyre type and size
temp
humidity
weight of car
weight of driver
passenger?
road surface
road temp
tyre temp
gradient of road
de-seamed?
is the surface wet
is tracking right
is the car warmed up
is the surface wet
ok I'm bored now but you get the point
With my 1430 I'm hoping to get 0-60 in less than 7 seconds in decent conditions and I want it to do 120mph, will do what ever it takes to get it to that but I want to do it without forced induction,
I've had over a 100 sat nav speed with my mini that's got 58/9 at the wheels, 0-60 is about 10 seconds

It was downhill and screaming its nuts off, but its not bad considering its as aerodynamic as a brick

hi bhp is all well and good but its all about how much torque your engine produces that gets you the quickest up the road
Well there is some truth in this, but as BHP is a function of torque and RPM, and I'll assume that most road minis have a maximum rpm between 6and 7k then bhp is a reasonable figure to give.
What you really should quote of course if your BHP and RPM.
