Door lock mechanism

okay went out today and had a look at the doors on my clubby, to see what my options were for me secret idea :) Not exactly a revolutionary idea, but interesting nonetheless.

Basically I need a small locking mechanism. The white box thing that is used on mk3 onwards cars is too big (wide) to fit my requirements.

I was thinking of using a mk2 lock. Does anybody know if they can be opened using a cable or metal strip like mk3 doors use? It will probably have to be solenoid operated in my case, and using the interior/exterior mk2 handles wont work for me...


If this doesn't work then I'll have to retreat to my crude improvisation, which will be to go to a DIY house shop and look at some door handles/locks that are used in building houses :)

I'm also still quite taken by the idea of not having doors at all :) So you can touch the ground while in the car :)

How about something like the boot lock??

Lol no that would hardly work... needs to be a spring one, so you can slam the door shut, not close it and then turn something :)
