No I'm on the top option so there's no limits to downloads. It's actually back up and working now, even a little faster than previously. I'm guessing just an exchange equipment problem.

If you exceed 100GB in a month on BT's so called "Unlimted" package then they can and will cap you to 1Mb during peak times :/. We have this package at our Uni house, it's not hard to break the 100GB limit when there is 5 of you sharing the connection. The service we've had from BT has been appalling.

As far as I am aware, Virgin are the only ones who offer a proper unlimited top package

Sky do also I believe. We're with them at home and lets just say I'm not a light user and they've never complained or adjusted our connection speed.

Despite the fact that they are not actually allowed to monitor what websites you go on, just the amount of traffic and usage.

Are you using your connection when you perform the test?

Nothing should be using the internet when you run the test so turn everything off and make sure no other computers in the house are accessing the web.

Well we've been with sky at home for about 4 years now and they've never 'grassed me up'. Not that the use of torrent sites is even illegal, or BitTorrent itself for that matter.

Good luck with BT, I wouldn't put it past them to still enforce the 100GB limit on optical connections. So in another 3 days you'll be getting capped to 1Mb between the hours of 5PM and 2AM (if I recall correctly those are the times) :).

now ya say that...

.. they can not monitor you all they like...... but the lying gits do anyway! :) i know several people who have had "the letter" and swiched from sky, and there isnt much left on the flaming net thas legal anymore anyway, and anyway you say legal but the countries servers i use its all legal there so i use theirs!

...wait for it...... wait for it.... here comes the big argument............................................

Just me on my laptop and i connected through an ethernet cable to do it.

Been doing the same for the last week but tonight was th first night it would even start up the speedchecker. Stayed on here until about 1am last night and, as if by magic, the connection went back up to 7.2Mb bang on the stroke of midnight.
