What year car do you have Tom?
Pre 1997 i think all had "sealed beam", not bulbs. If it has had a halogen conversion kit fitted (a good upgrade), these will probably be H4.

Just thought - you say rusty - do you mean the chrome backing pieces rather than the middle bulb?

Hi its a 1990 J. Its not sealed beam its got the 3pin pug, so can replace the bulb without the whole unit being replace. Its the red and black wire to a small bulb just below it had abit of rust on it and the bulb crumbled about but the housing is fine

:genius: he's done a picture seems pretty clear, he's after a sidelight bulb :P

I'd guess its the W2 type, but theres various sizes, nip along to Halford with the old one.

Hi Irostoke,
Yes, I think Tom is refering to the sidelight, but the W2 is a capless bulb? - nothing to rust on it? - think Tom really needs to replace the sidelgiht bulb holder, probably integral to the multiplug connector for the H4 bulb?

Sorry my english i not my strong point.
It was just the bulb that had rusted, where the bulb sits in the holder is fine and the terminal have no rust on them either.
So i think i just need to replace the bulb

Cheers Tom

Its going to be an aftermarket conversion, you'd really need to take the bulb out, Im pretty sure the ones on the conversions we've done have been the W2 type bulbs basically all glass with just two wires for contacts.

It'll be a standard bulb easily found in Halfords just take it along and match it up.

Looking at the lights you have it looks like you need a 233 bayonet 4w 12v bulb as shown in this link.

Side Light Bulb

Your local Halfords or motor spares place will have them in stock. If you are not sure then take the other side light bulb out and take it with you.
