Yeah that is right, if you are going to be spraying over it then it will react. Have you thought about using stonechip instead, it helps with rust if cleaned up properly prior to application & you can paint it, it also deadens road noise to a degree. Just to make sure you could clean the areas up, then etch prime & stone chip. Hope this helps.I've been thinking of painting my floors, boot and wheel arches with hammerite before repainting the whole car, but i've read that hammerite reacts with other paints is this true??? If so is there anyway around it??

whilst doing the projct red oxide primer has been the first thing to hand to put on bits of bare metal, so now im preping to paint im not sure about whether it will react with other paints.
is it ok to spray primer over it and then spray the top coat over that? or will this end in a horrible reaction?
also where im using filler to tidy up any dents is it ok to put filler ontop of where i have painted red oxide primer?

Just make sure you buy the water-based version (the instructions will tell you to wash the brush with water when finished) as they do two different types.
