Hah yes it is Shifty. I'm sad to say that it looks almost certain that I'll have to sell Barney. I really hope that someone here will buy him and finish him properly. I've got a valuation thread up here. Please check it out if you have a good eye for value!

I only hope that I can buy him back again one day when I have money and a garage! Coming back on this site really reminds me why I love minis and makes me even sadder to think about selling him!

So somehow the mini has remained tucked in the corner of the drive at home, covered and completely untouched. Now however, I think it's time to resurrect him! Not sure if anybody even remembers who I am after so long but I'm hoping to start posting updates at some point in the coming months. I'm no longer an undergrad student with no money and I now have a girlfriend who actually loves minis and wants me to get him fixed up and ready to use! The last girl was a big driving force behind me so very nearly selling him. Anyway, fingers crossed I'll find the right person to help me get Barney up and going again. Watch this space!

Ill look forward to future updates and seeing him brought back to life!

Good luck

Ben

Thanks Ben, hopefully I'll have some help from Shifty getting him restored properly.

Yep, you already had a good go at him buddy! Might as well finish what you started ;)

Just read through the thread again myself, bloody hell there's been a lot of set backs! The double rear valance! Haha

Just had a chat with Sean, a plan is forming. Work to possibly start in May (so probably no point checking the thread again until then!). Lots of things on the menu, new front end and respray being two particularly tasty courses. Better start saving  :ohno:  =]

Yeah, Dave hasn't used him for a few years!!  He's been parked up, on grass, under a sheet, pretty much the worst way of storing a car!!

Oh dear. Mine was stored like that by the previous owner for 7 years minus the tarpaulin. i had to cut it out with shears. the fact it had any floor left was a miracle.

Good luck with the work shifty :-)

Thanks for posting Shifty, haven't had a chance to get online until now! He's all packed up and off for some long overdue work. Unfortunately we don't have a garage so a series of car covers was the best home I could find him. I got a 'heavy duty car port' at one point that lasted a week...

Here he was after removing the car cover for the first time in about two years:

Some impressive cobwebs:

Naked interior (to keep the fabrics from going mouldy!)

Check out the scuttle after shifty attacked it with a screwdriver!

Getting excited :)

Wow, just read this for the first time. It's great you managed to hold onto it all this time and you're now in a position to fix it up again. Hope it all goes well!
