That is absolutely shockingly bad workmanship, cowboy or not they must of felt guilty doing that 'job'.

That's horrible! It's a shame that people 'repair' a car and then dare to sell it like that!

Well I'm going to be delivering this car back to Dave this weekend so I'd better get a move on!!!

Had a bit of a setback today, when I came home the stupid winds had caused a powercut!!

Luckily it came back on so I could get started again..

Mmmmmm................Rust!!!

For this I've used the 3 Hadrian panels to make up the rear lower section.

Nice work mate, sorry about the lack of contact, I was skiing in the alps spending what's left of my overdraft >_<

Can't wait to get him back tomorrow!

The car is back and hiding under its cover until the rain stops. Then I have a checklist of things required for the MOT before he's back on the road. Shifty reckons I should rat him with some red oxide on the welded parts - not sure about that but I do want something else over the black he put there for me.

Right, with no rain and only my uni work to distract me I had some time to work on Barney today. I have decided to do the basic rebuilding of the interior and boot myself and pay the garage to sort the three MOT failures I have left, split steering gaiter, track rod end and stuck rear brake. I wrote down a list of all the uni work I have to do before I return and realised I literally have no time to sort out Barney myself. Luckily I got an overdraft extension to cover garage bills and I get paid a little just before christmas. I'm also selling my welder and a few other things to raise some funds. Enough talk, here are some pictures.

Carpets are down and the interior is at least sitting in the right place now:

And because it's winter I'm freezing and its already dark!

The car is booked in for its work and consequent MOT on Tuesday and I'm off on Saturday for a few days so I will have to try and finish the rest tomorrow! Got to reconnect the fuel tank, check the engine is running nicely, work out why my windscreen wash pump isn't working and a few other little niggling things. Should be doable. With a little luck and good timing I could even be on the road for christmas! (FINALLY!)

Idiot!!

You should have told me about the work you were gonna pay the garage to do!!

While i'd got him in the air I would have done that for ya as well!!

Nice to see him coming back together, all you need is the red oxide and he's done!!

Barney is looking great - being newish to all this, I've not seen Shifty's work before, but I certainly hope you'll have a garage space when I need some welding doing!

Must feel good to have him back and almost on the road again.

Yes I should have, but I wouldn't have had the money to pay for it. I can stick this on credit card and pay it off when I get paid just before Christmas. Plus I was hoping to do it myself before. But yeah, I'd have saved a lot of money.

I don't suppose you fancy another road trip do you? ;D

You could have used the card to pay me via pay-pal!!

But to be honest to do those few jobs would have only been £25, plus £15 worth of bits!!!

Nice thread.

Glad your Mini will finally be sorted.

I'm dreading the day i decide to strip my Mini lol Not sure what i will find!

I too had a problem with my washer pump which turned out to just be a dodgy wire.

Good luck with the rest of it!
