Hi

I'd like to fit two child's seats: 1 x forward facing high-sided todder seat (for our 2.5 year old) and 1 x booster seat with a back (for our 5 year old).

My '89 Mini Thirty has two static, 3 point seat belts in the back and basically I want to know if these are sufficient with modern children's seats - or do I need to retrofit more modern inertia real seat belts?
I intend to fit the seats all in and then get MotherCare to "ok" them as correctly fitted - don't ask, it's the Wife's requirement for sign off, before the boys are allowed in the Mini !

So - can anyone help me here and/or post any pics of seats fitted?

As to how I get our 3rd baby son in, is another question altogether!

Thanks in advance

The static seatbelts will be fine. just make sure you tighten them up as mucha s you can using the adjusters and they'll work as they should. I honestly think that the static 3point belts are safer for child seats anyway as they will never slacked due to the inertia reel.

I have both

The booster for the 5 year old is fine, you just shorten the belt to suit.
With the one for the toddler it all depends on the fixing of the particular seat, we had one seat thet would not fit into a volvo estate let alone the mini.
But the seat we have gracco I think fits in just fine.

Excellent - will fit them this week and run down to Mothercare to ensure they pass the Missus test!

Many thanks.

I have just fitted one and mothercare sold it to me saying it had buckel crunch and had to be fitted in the front. Basically the buckle straps were too long and made the buckle and clip sit over a hard plastic edge which could cause failure in an accident. It was the same on the wifes car. So we spent 3 months driving with little one in the front and adult passenger in the back. We eventually found a company which would shorten the buckle for us.

Ah yes - good ol' buckle crunch - I'd forgotten about that.
Many thanks indeed - I'll contact these guys and send them the two rear buckles for adjustment.

Thanks!
