How could a DTM slow it down?

because the bore is quite large thus losing pressure and the exshaust fumes are not removed as quick.

so if i squash a hole in the pipe thus compressing it.... ill try it and get back to you!

squash a hole in it! From what you've said i'd be spending my money on a good rolling road session for them to set the car up properly and forget the leccy ignition. Sure it's good, but no replacement for setting the car up properly. With the work you've done they'll be able to fit the right carb needle and set it up properly, and give you advice.
The tube to the back of the engine bay is unlikely to make any difference, the mini gets lots of good air at the back due to the huge grille it has!

So if I switch to electronic ignition of whatever sort will I still need to have a spindle into my engine from the end of the dizzy or is that just there to make the rotary arm spin?

Old post but all the electronic kit does is replace the points and condenser, the distributor works exactly the same the distributor shaft being driven in the normal manner advancing/retarding the mechanical advance mechanism and distributing to spark via the rotor arm
