Naw, it still has the plastic wrap on it, too lazy to take it off :P

I have been taking it apart since I got it, I need the engine and subframes off of it like yesterday so I can assess the bottom!

Are you sure you don't need an early1960 Austin 850 John? It even has a title... :P

Well I have taken large chunks of the moke apart today, happy that the engine ran so well I decided to tear it to bits. I dont think there is one panel on this thing without any rust! Yay Fun! :D

I started out by drilling the rivets out of the mystery plates on the pannier tops.. mooore rust! I wonder if anyone else would even touch this thing heh. The whole bottom of the load floor is covered in scale, that will be fun to clean up.

I still need to get the saloon out of the shop soon. More pictures for all of you.

If your were a real hot rodder you'd just paint that beatch with por15. They make putty too you know. Maybe some foil tape or window screen material to reinforce that floor and just runner!!

Now, if I were a real hot rodder... Would I be playing with Minis? :) Now get that pickup done! Or take the 1071 out for a drive.. or excavate the yellow one... or build up your wagon... or fix your Lotus Cortina!

Is it my fault you bought a 1071 cooper S instead of finishing your garage? lol

Lookie what I got in the mail today!

Posted Image

A $1500 box! Fully of shiny(well not actually shiny :P) original panels!

Posted Image

And knowing a normal car guy who likes model kits, I just had to pull it out of the box and try sticking things together "without" glue... trial fitting... (in other words playing with my new toys..)

Look Ma! No rust!

Nice new panels, Is it easier to fit the panels to the moke or the moke to the panels? O_O

What comes first? The Chicken or the E.. err the Moke or the panels?

I will likely jig up a baseline for my front to rear subframe mounts and build the center tub then introduce the front and back to the built up center after repairing rust on them. Anything is repairable if you throw enough money at it!

I think I mentioned in your thread something about a build your own heritage shell kit, I think this is on par lol.

I ran into an annoying issue today, my fuel tank has a hole in it, in the side where the pannier cover rusted it >:(

Posted Image

No holes in the bottom, inside is flawless..

But there are holes in the side at about the 2/3 tank level :( I am going to need to find someone who restores fuel tanks to weld a patch in.

Is the tank Moke specific? Anything like the estate/van version?

Not only moke specific, but specific to early mokes only.

Fun

Na, just throw some dry ice in it and weld a patch in it.

Greetings all

I started out today by finishing the stripping of the rear subframe which required flipping the moke up on the other side to access the right hand trailing arm setup. Interestingly I found these aluminum plugs in the subframe, I have not seen these before, I bet they would annoy someone trying to use old style allen key adjustable high lows.

Once it was stripped I set it back on the ground so I could start constructing a cradle I could use to attempt to level out any twist that might be in the body, this gave me the perfect opportunity to get an interesting rotten floor shot :) And while I was down there I took a picture of a factory error I found in the front seat mount... do you think I should replicate it? :P

I tossed my toeboard jig in expecting it not to fit, I made it on my 1960 saloon shell earlier if you had seen in that post. Surprisingly it all fit and bolted on easily, even the almost completly rusted out hole lined up perfectly!

Finally, I dont think this is quite right, this Moke has 3 unions in the middle of it's rear brake line, this cant be normal...
