Vrooom Vroom.

I had to do surgery on the carb as the jet was seized in the guide. Thankfully I had some spare inch and a quarters laying around... or so I thought. I put the tube in the carb and it leaked profusely at the float bowl.. So I knocked the original one from the jet it was seized in and put it in the carb, leak was fixed and the choke now functioned... And I managed to get it to fire.

I think the carb is out of adjustment, but I wasn't too worried about that. I did note there was a odd tinny noise that sounds somewhat like an old squirrel fan. You can hear it in the video.

There really isn't much to rebuild in these carbs, As long as the spindles are not too worn you have the sliding jet assembly, and the float needle. Maybe one or two gaskets, it is mostly cleaning the varnish out and getting the right settings and mixture needle. Not like I am worth my salt tuning a carb, but the only simpler fuel system then one of these would be running the fuel hose right in the manifold, a Japanese carb makes one of these looks truly stoneage by comparison :)

I like new panels. Out with the rot, in with some strength & less of a breeze!

You forget, I am working on a Moke! PLENTY of breeze!

I was not too fond of the stock Moke spare tire mounting setup, so I came up with a plan on fabricating one of my own using... A front drum brake drive flange!

Nice touch with the spare wheel. I think there is so much you can do to a Moke that makes it look good.

That is the stock location, just not stock mounting system. Originally it was just a bolt a nut and the normal mini spare hold down plate. You can see the creases in the rear panel strengthening rail where that setup caused the rim to damage it.

A big investment there indeed! That rust wasn't free, I paid dearly for it! :ohno: Oddly most people seem to like it even with the floors threatening to quit from their jobs...

Don't worry John, I will see you in a couple of months, Me and Mr. Sawzall :shifty:
