Great job there, I've got a 1961 traveller waiting for some attention too.

How is it compared to the "rusty" one? Is there any metal left? ;)

Chris

Mines pretty good. Alot less rust than later models. They seem to have thicker metal. Don't get me wrong though. It does need some work, but nothing structural.

I touched it!... More tomorrow it was 8:30pm by the time I saw it but it is somewhat crusty, my welder will get a workout... Pics tomorrow!

Jag> the earlier ones are made with fewer recycled beer cans more real steel ;)

And yeah, I am not choosy mostly because there is not many options available here.. now.. my "new" one is also somewhat choice...

I got a new rear left wing with it and am buying a floorpan from the person I bought it from. It is officially my most expensive mini or any other car I have ever purchased however it is also the most original and complete numbers matching one as well. Not like that will matter as I plan on modifying it, but the $3900usd price was well worth it.

More later.

p.s. perhaps a mod would rename this thread to Chris's Mini Collection or something as more and more of it is ot lol.

Well... The place I picked it up from has the weather for it... Not so much where I live however, Oregon sunshine is a bit moist, I am just a nut :)

Hey all,

I just want to report I made it home safely yesterday, the little trailer survived the moke just fine.

Posted Image

Unfortunately I can't do anything with it right now, I have some VW stuff to scrap so I can move the woody to mom's shop for storage while at the same time trying to locate a moke toeboard so I can replace this rotten one.

Oh, the cat approves of the moke...

Well if the cat has approved the project you can't back out now! Hope you get the required panels sorted.

Well I got it home today, and my first lesson on how stubborn the Moke is. I started loostening the straps, and I had the hand brake full on and it was in gear. As soon as it sensed a bit of freedom it raced forward towards the truck untill it's front tires fell off the deck. Doh... Stubborn Moke... It fought me and refused to go back on the deck so I disconnected the truck and decided, if it doesnt want to come off the back, it will just have to come off the front.

Using a high lift jack I jacked up the front and placed a pair of ramps under the front tires and once the high lift jack was out of the way I pushed it forward untill the sump hung up on the trailer hitch safety lock. I used the highlift again at this point to gently lift the front untill it was high enough to slide over the lock and onto the ground.

Once it was past the lock the Moke happily rolled off into the grass.

I have pushed it around back at this point, I need to make some room in the shop to get the moke in, Probably going to have to take the 60 shell to my mothers house to re-inture it in her vault of storage.

Although, I do think I am going to try to make it run tomorrow...

Congrats on the moke! Is the plan to have this one done first, then?

Why do you ask me these unknowable questions!! D:

The first one to be done will be the. *shakes magic 8 ball* "Cannot predict now"

Well that is not very helpful....

I do think I will be able to drive the Moke first, but done? I have no idea.

Chris
