So I cut it all out and... the flitch looks just as bad as the other side

So I basically did almost the same repairs as the other side.

I have to say, looking at both lower flitches, I like what I am seeing...

Laying absolutely flat after rolling it over I had almost half inch of sand on the crossmember I was able to put my index finger in to the first knuckle deep.

While cleaning out the sand with a shop vac the shell rotated around I had a rock fall out...

Sandstone! Along with a stripe of black under the shell...
I cleaned it out and am going to have to do a fair amount of metal replacement But I figured I would have to :)

P.S. I may be getting something else.. I am a glutton for punishment!

1967 UK Built LHD Mini Moke. It's going to cost a bit but well worth it.. and.. MORE RUST TO REPAIR!! Wheeee!

Best thing is it's possibly the most complete mini I have purchased, and the engine runs!... Unfortunately the brakes and clutch hydraulics do not lol.
I plan to fix the serious rust for now and then fix the hydraulics to drive it this summer, Then pull it apart this winter for better body massaging if everything works out.

It's been a few days, I haven't been doing much Mini wise however Brandon came over and helped me switch the saloon shell onto the spit so I can do some floor repairs on it. I found out a contributing factor to why the floor rotted where it did, the sand was not fully removed when it was sand blasted and it had collected moisture.

Hi, I had the shell sand blasted. When I got it back I went after it with an air hose. I blew air in every hole untill sand stopped coming out.
I thought ai got all the sand out.
Guess not.

What I would do differently is, I would cut two holes, one on each end of the crossmember. Then blow and vacuume the sand out. Also I would spray something to protect the metal on the inside of the crossmember.
Minde you, I had the shell inside all the time I had it. And I don't know what happend to it between when I last saw it and Chris got it. The floor shure got bent up, and it got a lot of rust on it.
Good job on repairing it.
