Hi, i've just put some Cooper S discs in my Clubby, and its made the front track about 2 inches wider than it was when i ran drums. I'm running 145x10 tyres at the mo, on what i think are 4.5" rims. I'm also getting some 1275GT spacer hubs and drums for the rear, to uprate the wheel bearings and bring the rear to the same width as the front.

At the moment its blatantly illegal, as you can see about 1 3/4" of visible tread when you look onto the front tyres from above, so which wheel arches or wheel spats are the best ones to go for do you think? Both in practical and styling terms? I am also looking to eventually fit some 5x10" Minilights or Revo's to the car, so I need to get some that will still cover the new wheels.

I was looking on Minispares.com and the Grp 5 Fibreglass arches looked quite good, as they allow you to still fit the chrome strip down the side of the car, but will these cover my wheels? And will they fit onto a Clubby ok, despite the different front end shape of it?

Thanks

Tom

p.s - it was the crankshaft oil seal leaking, its contaminated all the pulleys and belts too, switched my lights on earlier and the thing stopped charging, good job i've got an 075 battery fitted! Tommorrow gotta whip the rad and gubbins off and get to that seal and gasket on the timing cover, what a thing to do on a bank holiday!!! d'oh! Oh, and Ducellier distributors suck, my dwell setting wandered 20 degress in 5 weeks!! :)

With 'S' discs and 4.5 wheels they should be OK without arches. Remember that 1275GTs had this set up and no arches.
I run 6x10 Mambas with atd arches and they are fine.

My preference would be the old Group 2 arches.

hmmm, they must be wider than 4.5" then, maybe 5 or even 6, but got to admit they don't look it. Is there any limit to what width wheels 145x10 tyres will go onto?

I'll have a look at those arches, cheers

Tom

oh yeah, just remembered, we had to fit narrow spacers to clear the calipers, as they're cheap imitation Wella's on at the mo, so had small inner diameters, so thats probably helping. Minilights or Revo's would solve that problem wouldn't they?

Sounds like you have 5x10 Wellers, group 2's should cover them nicely and wont look out of place on your car...

from your pic you have 5x10 (or maybe even 6x10) wellas and you should be running 165 tyres on a rim that width, will handle way better! wellas have a C**p offset so you will need grp2 arches at least.
