Quick question.
I'm about to connect up my rod change gear linkage.
The selector rod could go on either way and the gearstick will fit and move the rod either way, but which is right?
It can either be like this, so the rod sit down at the bottom of the rod housing:
Or it could be spun round and sit like this, high up in the housing:
I've got a feeling its the first photo, but want to make sure before I attempt to put the roll pins in.
Thanks
Mike.

Ok thanks. So top photo is right...
Next quick question before I put the roll pin in.
I'm going to fit a minispares leak fix kit before I connect the roll pin. I've prised the old black seal out and behind it have another black thing. I've tryed cleaning it up to see if its a previous alloy sleeve fitted onto the selector shaft, but I can't really tell and its quite far into the gearbox casing - About 5-7mm.
Going off these photos:
What would you say that is? Is it an alloy sleeve fitted by a previous owner or another seal or just the gearbox casing where the selector shaft comes out?
Because i'm pretty certain there not enough room for the new alloy sleeve and seal to fit in there - So should I just fit the new seal, ontop of whats in the photo. As this is how it was done before.

A common old school fix - two seals.
Try and remove it and then fit the alloy bush - that gives better support to the selector rod.

Once i'd uploaded the photo and saw the numbers on it - I thought it was another seal
Going to be fun trying to get that out!
I'll go and try now...
