So any 20/50W then cheers

Semi-synthetic should do , dont buy synthetic - its too thin for a mini as it shares the oil with the engine and sump.

thats not the reason,

a 20w50 is 20w50 in either synthetic or mineral, the difference is the ammount of zinc thats in the oil (zddp or something cant remember now),

synthetic dont have many additives, as modern engines dont need them like the old ones.

although if you were to use motorcycle oil thats a fully synthetic that would be perfectly fine, a motorcycle 10w50 fully synthetic would be awsome, the reason motorcycle oil is good for mini's is because they also share there oil with the gearbox, so needs the same additives in it.

imo though the valvoline racing 20w50 is the best, my mate uses it in his turbo mini, and my gf uses it in her 1ltr, and we just stripped her 998cc down after doing 30,000 miles since it's rebuild (were doing a full resto on the car so engine is being refreshed, and gearbox is off having a rebuild anyway) and everything is perfect, so just gonna give the bores a hone and new rings, and all new gaskets and away it's going :tumble:
