Apologies for digging up this old thread, but am looking at getting a set of 6x12 gun metal minilights from JBW.
Reading posts back from 2011 there seemed to have been issues for some people with lacquer on the wheels peeling? Has anyone who bought them in recent years had any similar issues with them?
Cheers!

The company I work for used JBW to supply the wheels up until recently. We've had about 8 sets in the last couple years. On the whole they have been satisfactory, but not without issues. I personally think they seem very cheaply made, and the casting quality shows this on every set we've had. The wheels we get are sent out with customer cars so we only ever see them new, so I can't comment on how they last, but from what I hear it is still a bit hit and miss with the lacquer peel quality. There have been other issues too, for example we have been sent the wrong wheel nuts twice out of the 8 sets we've had, and the customer service could be better. Often we would expect wheels to be delivered the next day only to have them delayed a number of times before actually turning up. This usually ended up being the result of them advertising wheels as 'in stock' when in fact they had none. We now deal directly with Ultralite instead and they are so much better. The casting quality of the wheels is by far superior, and they are just a more pleasant company to deal with in general.

My 'S' offset JB/MWS minilite type wheels sure needed a lot of balance weights (could just be tyres?). In hindsight I wish I'd spent more on the minispares versions, or genuine Minilites. I may yet go for some rosepetals and keep the others as a spare set.

Better to resurrect an old post than restate all the old information on a new post.
Bought JBW 6x12s a few years ago (but after 2010/11) the lacquer on mine lifted before i even had the chance to put them on the car.
EDIT: Just found this interesting snippet. Not sure if this ruling has been overturned since then
