I would like brighter interior lights in my mini. In my current car when you switch the ignition off before getting out the car lights come on in the foot wells and in the doors and above on the headlining.

The classic mini's interior light is so dim that I think I can actually get more light from a candle!

I would like a bright LED so that when I open the door it actually lights up.

Anyone done this, is it a straight swap

Also has anyone put extra interior lights in their car?

Rach

I've got extra LED's under my dash so they light up the footwell. They're wired into the interior light so they come on when the door opens :)

so do they come on every time you open the door or can you use the interior light switch so that they can be set to this or just when you press the switch?

I also have a bag of blue & white led's as I plan to do a similar idea as shown above under the front shelf.

Led's from good old fleabay.

Fantastic work! That really looks good!
Can you help me and tell me what do I need to buy to make a similar mod to my Austin Mini 1000?

Thanks,
Lucas.

I have exactly this on my mini, i have put the LED infront of the radio as well to light that if need be. I have four strips, 2 under the foot wells and 2 under the front seats, im in the process of another two white strips underneath the foot wells for when the doors as the others on a switch are red. and two more red LED strips in the back, although I may just swap 2 from the front to the back and them all on a three way switch like the original light switch :)

Just change the bulbs in the speedo for LED. They should just be 501 wedge fits. I have done the same I'll see if I can find a pic.
