Pride is a sin

Wait, wait, wait…are you suggesting one of the many deities worshiped on this planet finds having your car featured in a magazine offensive? Odd times indeed!

My car was recently featured in the December edition of Mini Magazine. This was quite a simple affair that involved sharing a few details about the mini's history, tech specs, what I'd done to it etc.

The editor arranged a photo shoot which I helped pick a location for, and the freelance photographer came out and got some great pictures. I bought a framed collage of prints from him just before the mag got released, which I'm really happy with.

Sure, print media and specialist car magazines aren't what they used to be, and I didn't necessarily "get" anything from having the car featured in the mag (aside from the prints which I paid for), but it's added to the car's history & provenance. For me it wasn't about showing off or anything like that, but it did give some sense of achievement and I've had some nice comments from people about the feature.

Truth be told, my passion has started to dwindle a little over the past few months as I've not felt as enthusiastic about attending shows and local meets as I used to be, but seeing my mini looking its best in a "proper" print publication has helped to keep me motivated to carry on tinkering and enjoying the car.

I've been extremely lucky to have been featured as the main cover car for Mini Mag twice now. Both times were great stress free experiences! As you'd expect, my car really divides opinions, but that's ok. The sense of pride I have is immense (even if it is a sin....), and I also love the idea that I'm inspiring people do push boundaries and think outside the box when it comes to Minis. I've actually noticed more and more modified Minis being featured over time which I think is great for variety.

just worth mentioning, I was approached both times and didn't seek out features myself. I've always built my car for me and me only, but if others appreciate it then that's a bonus  :proud:

This was my first feature back in 2018.

And then my second feature this year after yet another complete rebuild
