I had never really thought about getting in a magazine but I was encouraged by a member of our club to write in which I did along with some pictures. The cars featured always look immaculate and although I was really happy with the level I had reached on my car I wasn't sure it would be good enough.
I got featured in the "Your minis" section of Mini Mag which was enough for me as there must be plenty of top notch cars that haven't been lucky enough to be featured in a magazine at all, (maybe they don't want to but I know I'd like to see some of them featured)
However, at the same time the editor asked if he could do a full feature on the car which I was still a bit concerned as to the standard, but he said he thought it looked good enough. I guess once he got the professional pictures that is kind of the make or break and if it wasn't good enough I would have got the "Sorry..." letter
My (kit) car probably caught a break being vaguely interesting (?) and/or different so maybe it didn't have to be quite as good as some of the cars that get in the mag. Also the professional pics did make it look quite good.
Just my experience how it happened for me
