Donnington park 20th anniversary, Wow, dare i say, i was there! broke down on the way home too, in an orange customised 1275GT with wolfrace slotmags owned by my brother. A Piston broke and we were towed all the way to Swanley by my dad from Newport pagnell services. What a day, i shall never forget it.

I must try and find the piccy's.

using the below information, if the date these pics were taken is correct (27 aug 79), that means that this car wasnt taxed on the day it was pictured, and presumably hasnt been on the road since?

The vehicle details for HPP 365C are:

Date of Liability 01 06 1979 <<<<<<<----------
Date of First Registration 01 06 1965
Year of Manufacture 1965
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1275CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour WHITE

oh pants i just realised that pic of that car was at a different event, thought i had hit on some retro tax dodging there lol

25th anniversary at Donnington. This was a slow parade lap until they got to the first corner then they went for it.

Looks like AJB44B leading LBL6D

Thanks for that mab. It lasted about 7 years after I sold it then.

We lived in house with 4 flats in the Peak District and every resident had a mini.

Ours is the red one. I think it was our third or fourth mini. It was originally a personal import from Germany bought under the discount rules for service personnel hence the newest reg for the oldest model.

Customising (that's what we used to call it) in the '70's was such a laugh. People would try anything to get noticed. Can wait for the next installment.

PS I think the owner of 526 SYB is currently restoring it to its former glory. If anyone saw the flip bodied blue Mini at IMM or Mini United there were some pictures of the car on display.

I have seen this car this year at billing aquadrome NSRA fun run. I see it parked in the arena and fell in love my dad was telling me the history and story's of this fine car!!!!!!

The (half of) Mini on the right of this picture with Wood & Pickett Arches and nudge bars + brand new 6x10 Cosmic slot alloys with Goodyear 165/10 Rally Special tyres was mine!!

I also knew all the Minis parked in this photo including the bumperless Hornet in grey primer as we had convoyed up the M1 with the Surrey/Sussex members of the then newly formed Mini Cooper Club.

Here is a scanned colour photo of my long gone 1972 Mk3 Mini back in 1979 which can also be partly seen on the right in the old b&w photo above at the 20th Mini Birthday party at Donnington.

HPP 365C was advertised for sale on one of the classic car websites a couple of years ago as a restoration project. It looked a bit rough after many years in storage but at least it has survived.

I guess we all did back then. When I bought a new Cortina GT in 1966 I won my class on an autocross when it was 6-weeks old.
