I have noticed in the last week or so my engine (1275 metro ) has started making a slight continuous whistling noise coming from the radator side, fitted a new water pump about a month ago so i hope it isn't that. Any ideas and should i be worried its running fine.
thanks

Could also be something catching the altanator fins. Put the oil rag near it other day fired her up n had high pitch hissing sound, suprised it didnt eat it for breakfast.

You shouldent realy put WD40 on rubber it is bad for it, also would this not just cause it to slip and squeel like a pigy.
Just wondring as ive never try'ed it
However i would say air leak from manifold or some where. But cheak everything maby fan fouling slightly
Bearings some times sound like that when there wearing out.

ive never ever heard of that
since when rubber on the belt absobs water it makes it squeel like a pig cause its getting hot as it spins
Duck oil & wd40 remove the water and stop the squeel and wont make the belts slip
i did it with mine and its not sliped or anything

Fair enought but oil generaly perishes lots of rubbers, I supose a few times can hurt.
But intresting to know i would have thought it would slip with oil on it.

The only other thing i can think off is that the noise started just when the rains came after a long (rare) dry spell.
i remember my friends mayfair doing that, squeaking after a bout of rain. doesnt do it anymore.
ill ask him tomoz what the problem was in the end.

WD40

its safe but its better to replace the belt
i keep a can of wd40 in the mini for the pionts (y)
