Hi guys,

Have any of you had experience with the minispares, electric window conversion kit? I've brought the kit off of ebay, and i think theres a few bits missing :/

But is it a reasonably easy one to do? i have no instructions at the moment (i say at the moment, i PM'd Simon@minispares last night, so i'll wait and see what he can do)
from what i can see but just looking at the lifters, does the glass literally just sit on those two rubber blocks? or is it secured in some way?

any advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Sam

I've got the wood and pickett kit fitted to my mini. I didn't fit it, but I've been changing my door cards and had a good look. There's not a lot of room in there (I've an MPI with impact bars though)

My mechanic (mini friendly) had never fitted a kit before and says he'll never fit one again.

Could give you some pictures if you like, they'll probably be very similar.

I had a go once. Was the hardest thing I have ever done.

Decided on a central locking kit instead.

Probably a stupid question but I'm guessing that the difficulty in fitting is due limited access to the inner door, so would it be a lot easier with the door skin off? What I mean is would it be a kit worth fitting when I'm replacing the door skins or would it still be a nightmare?

The pain was drilling the holes. I bought an autoeurope kit off ebay. I wouldn't though, they were right bumholes when I complained that it had missing bits and when it didn't arrive. I only bought it so I could interface it with my alarm so my immobiliser fob now arms and disarms the doors.

Andy, thats the wrong kit. You need need special levers as the actuator sits in the bottom of the door, miles away from the lock. These allow the action of the motor to move the lock. You get an instruction manual, but I had to alter the levers with longer bolts (so they actually worked), and buy some other bolts (which were missing.)

click

Otherwise, I can't believe I put up with it for so long without c/l.

Oh, and sorry for the thread hijack.

Don't get me wrong, it's easy enough to do, but needed modding to fit properly. I also had to mod the door cards to fit properly. The upgrade is worth it, especially if you have a rover alarm. You need an alarm interface kit from minispares tho. otherwise, I don't reckon it'd really be worth the half day to and from places to make it fit 100%.

that'd be handy if you could!

i'd like to see how the glass sits on the lifter and where the lifter bolts to the door if possible?

Cheers

The rover alarm has a fob and the interface (minispares about £25) allows you to use the alarm fob to deactivate the alarm and open the doors, just like a modern car!.

I.e, no keys. Ever.

(apart from the boot)

well if your fitting the electric window kit, you'll be getting rid of the winder regulator, so there'll be a big hole in the inside of the door for access

The wood and pickett one in jay30s mini is unbelieveably slow for some reason, i thought it would have been much quicker than it was. not sure about the in and outs of fitting it though
