I think it's primarily a cost thing Pete. I know that's what it is for me.If you're using a gun, why not use proper car paint :S

as for not using the right rollr, i used the foam gloss roller, not the fluffy emulsion roller, and it just didnt go on right, i thinned the paint down to required mixture, saturated the roller completely, and when i rolled it, it just bubbled and looked a right mess, so gonna stick to spraying it from now on, frequires alot less cutting back i know that for sure!!! lol

You cant argue that Paint Jobs that come out of proper Bodyshops are generally better though it does work both way ive seen Diy jobs that are better than some So Called "proffesional" resprays

Ive always wanted to "coach Paint " a car ill get around to doing it one day,i think these rustoleum paint jobs are good but id be more inclined to use real Coach Enamel

Rustoleum,Smoothrite etc was originally intended for Painting Gates,Railings etc but lots have found another use for it paint cars for a resonable Amount

Coach Paint or even Boat paint either Linseed or Alkyd based was made for refinishing Cars,Boats etc so will always give a better finish that the rust preventitive rustoleum/hammerite paints but dont necessarily cost much more

Enamel paints are a hell of a lot cheaper than Celulose or 2k paints and are generally easier to buy and dont smell as much so you wont have neighbours complaining

I think if you can afford it get a bodyshop to spray your Mini but theres a lot of us cannot afford to pay bodyshop prices and lets face it is it worth paying £1500-£2000 to spray a Mini Worth £1000

Mini and the Mini Scene can be a Money Pit,i say can because they dont have to.
Ive seen Hand Painted Minis at Shows and some people put their noses up at them

I say good on them at least theyve had a go

Weve sold our mini now and i doubt we will ever have one again,i still come here because i love to see the projects but im edging towards the German Car Scene now as i can buy a car for under £500 thats easy to work on,bulletproof, reliable that can have a few Aerosol touch ups and enjoy it

as Opposed to paying twice as much for a rusty old heap that needs thousands spending on it

Cracking job Olds kool Lews
Why not do it cheap and enjoy the Mini Scene on a Shoestring Budget i know i wish i had done
