Saw this on ebay Sunday and organised to see it monday as it was only 45 miles from where i live so did not think it was that bad.
So after what ended up being a 170 mile round trip i bough it.
Its a 1983 1.3 Austin matro with 37,00 100% genuine miles from new, only two owners the last has owned it for 25 years, came with a years MOT which it went through straight away with no advisories, no tax as it was disabeled taxation bracket, full service history. its Had some underseal in the past underdoors etc...
Great condition, the interior is like new
The plans are:
- Big service.
- Swop the electronic ignition + coil from my mini as well as the k&n air filter and maybe stage one kit.
- Clean up the very minor surface rust around some of the arches and petrol cap.
- Clean the wheels up. (Probably put my 12x5 minilites on in abit)
- Underseal the underneath.
- Lower it.

Then just enjoy it while i rebuild my mini.
Oh if anyones bothered it cost £300 with a fulltank of fuel.
Only got a couple of pictures off the advert but will update with more when i get it back to my house sometime this week.

Cool!!!

I'm pleased people are saving early Metros- they rusted really badly and most are now dead- I think in a few year's time you'll get more admiring looks from people who are bored with the rows of shiny MGBs and other more 'obvious' classics (Mini?!)

Instead of Underseal, go nuts with waxoil/ dinitrol etc in the box sections

i have one of these too, its red, also with 37k on the clock, its 1 ower from new, but i nicked the engine out of it to put in my white mini, which i then sold to mattwho? lol i still have the rest of the car, dunno what to do with it! do i scrap it? or try and sell it? prob wont get much for it, less than a tenner lol

This is the look i am going for which shouldn’t be to diffficult because i have have silver 12x5 minilites on my mini which i can nick as its being rebuilt.

Over the weekend me and a friend have replaced the ht leads and ait filter with K&N element. adjusted and cleaned the spark plugs, degreased and cleaned all the engine,new rocker cover gasket,sanded back, zinc primed and 2 pack painted the rust on the arches and petrol cap just need to get a paint match for it so it can have a top coat next weekend. Has been undersealed under the arches,rear suspension greases and lots of other little jobs.
