I'm an American living in South Africa, and this is my mini:

This beautiful '79 1100 Special was the project of a nice gentleman who started restoring it with the intention of gifting it to his daughter who had moved to London, but she lost interest in minis and it ended up sitting under wraps in his garage. So now it's mine, and with the high elevation and low humidity of the area, I'm glad to say that rust is not a problem with this beauty.
Unfortunately, everything else is. The car was repainted and given a fresh set of wheels, but that's as far as he got with the restoration. Interior, wiring (definitely wiring), gearbox, and maybe the engine all need attention, some serious, some not so serious.
Luckily, I have at least two years to get it all sorted so when it's done I can bring it back to the US with me.
I'll post more pictures in the Rebuilds section.
