Hi all,
I've been thinking about a new engine recently (because I have a fatal half moon oil leak and I reckon
that if I have to have the engine out I may as well put a better one back in) so I've been cruising around the classifieds, eBay etc.,
Now and then I see a "Short" engine advertised and I have no idea what that means.
Can someone educate me please ?
Best wishes
Monty

A short engine is usually just the engine block, crank, pistons etc, no Head and no gearbox and usually no flywheel either.

Some will not supply new camshaft, cam followers, pump etc.... opting to simply supply a block, crank, conrods, pistons and bearing shells.

The 998 engine is about 1/4" shorter than the 1275 engine................
But yes - usually the description 'short engine' means a complete block assembly - less head, sometimes less timing cover/timing gear/camshaft etc.
