Ok that said I have read on this forum that the best place to fit the pump is on the rear subframe, something to do with how the fuel flows from the tank and the height of the pump in relation to the tank outlet.
Mine works fine and I have had no problems. But I would definately listen to any advise on this because i just fitted mine without really knowing about the technical stuff.

I've just fitted a Facet fuel pump to the nearside of my rear subframe in about the same position as the old SU electric pump used to go.
I used a gearbox stabiliser bracket to bolt one of the pump mounts to and then bolted the other pump mount/bracket hole in one of the pre-drilled holes on the subframe web.
The fuel pipe from the tank comes through the multi-holed grommet to the pump and I routed the cable through another one of the grommet holes!
Hope the below photo makes it clear as to how I've fitted it!!!
Cheers Steve.

A Facet fuel pump is a solid state (no moving parts) pump that can replace the old points driven SU pump and were originally made for competition use as they are very reliable.
They come in different models for different applications and engines/carb set-ups.
According to the guff that comes with these pumps they should be fitted with an input (75um) filter and the output should go through a fine filter/pressure regulator before running to the carbs!

Sorry... not trying to hyjack your thread jordben 00.
OOPS..... I didnt do that bit... will it break? or over supply the carb? What pressure should the regulator be and where do i get one?

how can it pump liquid with no moving parts?
haha, thats what i just thought.
but the reason its not like yours is that yours will be mechanical. ie. works off the engine which is why its bolted the the back of it. older minis used an electric fuel pump mounted to the rear subframe. a facet one is basically an upgraded version of one

you need to fit an inline filter before the petrol enters the pump. you dont need a pressure regulator, ive never fitted one when ive fitted electric pumps to various classic cars, not had any probs.
its also a good idea to wire it through an inertia switch as well.
itll need wiring off an ignition switched source, preferaby an ignition switched fuse from the fuse box

From memory they're about £40 from Minispares
I think SU carbs need no more than 3psi of pressure and the fast road Facet pump delivers over 4psi. The filter/regulator just stops the pump from "beating" the float chamber valves and causing leaks/flooding but also stops all the silt from getting into the carbs!
Facet recommend the filter/regulator but that's not to say a set up without it won't work properly. Having had related problems before, I'm erring on the safer side!!! I've also fitted a fuel inertia switch to prevent the pump emptying the tank in the event of a sudden stop!!!

I keep forgeting to switch it on. which is a bit embarasing sometimes. That's a good idea, just when they think they've got away with your Mini!!!!!

I just replaced my Facet pump that I was running for the last 20 + years. It literally desinigrated and leaked from all the seams. I went ahead and replaced it with another as it was a good performer and it lasted longer than most parts on a Mini.
