got some more done last night, had a nightmare with the door though! before i cut anything out, i measured everything twice, to get the right fit etc, but when it came to fitting the door, to my horror it wasnt sitting straight, and didnt fit! turned out to be a twisted door, the frame had cracked over the years and dropped, twisting the door out of shape! luckily i have a few spares and found one that fitted near bang on! more updates soon!!!

yeah i got "a few" spares lol i should be workin on the mini on saturday, got someone picking up my scrap 998 engine at some point, piece of junk that it is lol but ill know for definite closer to the day when ill be working on it.

if i didnt have so much to do on my estate, id pop over n take a look at your project, but need to get it paneled up for mitp!

oh and i got a new bottle of welding gas today! its mahosive! lol

Lol, nice, should be grabbing the welder this weekend, just need to sort some money out.
Started drilling out my panels too earlier, but it's a new drill and it needs charging

Will have to head over and look at Valerie some time again.

another update -

eating toast n drinking tea while i wright this, lettin the a-panel cool down as had to slice it and tac welding it back together to get a good fit (damn those after market panels!) all the drivers side is now complete (just a-panel left)

considering i welded in a new door post, the fit of the replacement door is near enough spot on! body line and door shut is bang on! i do have all the pics of the progress but computer is still playing up n not letting me put them up, but will try upload them soon! ill be at mitp on the tmf club stand so come over for a look! no doubt ill have done more by then! lol more updates to follow!

I should really have a look at that PC for you! Been meaning to for a while now.

I may pop over tomorrow, was engrossed in working on my own today, got the wings off and the front panel half off; yeah slow progress but I'm new! lol Ordered my welder too!

How much have you got left to do then? Passenger side floor and what not, can't remember much else.

yeah should be good mate! cant wait to see yours too, u put alot of hard work into yours, n its gonna be wicked seein it in the flesh when its all finished! my estate is gonna be lookin bit ropey, as its got a odd colour door, n primered a-panel lol but what u wont see is the sheer ammount of hard work thats gone into it until i upload my pics! im itchin to show everyone the progress!!!

fiinshed the drivers side today, painted the floor, inner wing, behind the a-panel etc with rubberised anti-corrosion paint, then seam sealed the welds, then stone chipped it all, looks mint now! when the stone chip hardens, ive got a small can of vermillion orange (the original colour) so will be painting the door step so its not as unprotected and blends in a little!

not bad progress for 2 days work!!! (over 2 weekends)

put the interior back in yesterday, so i can drive it to work and to mitp in a couple of weeks, then will crack on with the passenger side, which isnt as bad as the drivers side, but abit more involved as the door surround is pitted and thin (and the wiring runs inside it!!!) but i should be able to repair it all fine, and hopefully get some bleeding pictures up! (im hoping wednesday!) keep your eyes pealed for piccies and updates!

I'll be heading over Wednesday and I'll try not to forget my camera too so you'll have my pics, and I'll fix Lewis' laptop so you can get his pics too.
That'll make up for it, right?

nah not tried to get any in the back yet, but im gonna try get a roof rack and paint a old bmx to match the body colour whack mag wheels on it (sort of similar looking to wellers in a way....) gonna be propa old skool looking, very retro and slammed!!

if your at mitp, pop over and have a chat, can show you the work thats been carried out so far and whats left to do! very pleased how its turning out, should have pics up though on wednesday (if my computers fixed then!)

cheers! wait till you see the pics though!! there wasnt alot left holding the drivers side together, apart from a poorly brazed on plate, which was also riveted and bolted over the top of nothing-ness, just loads of road dirt, rust, and silicon sealant lol

fingers crossed for tomorrow for pics!
