Looking good, great job getting the snapped bolt out. Are you running springs on there or is it the pic ??

Hello again Graham.. The Springs or ruber donuts are fitted yes, but I had the Hi lo's dialled right down so that I could get the top arms to fit easily..I think thats why it looks so low at the back as well...I will adjust everything once the engine is fitted on Thursday evening, But im sure it will take a few hundred miles for the new donuts to settle in. so the tracking and camber settings will be miles out for a while.. I have just invested in some laser alignment tracking gear, so I can keep adjusting it as the suspension sorts itself out.

Regards

Andy

These are 6x12 revo's with group 2 wides, yes? How did you get the wheels to line up this well? Have you used spacers?

Cheers,

Iain.

No spacers..just minifins they are like spacer drums..Yes 6x12 and group 2...The fit is spot on..more luck than design. lol

Engine is fitted, ride heights are set, exhaust is on, electrics sorted, brakes bled, and tappets adjusted..

Just the bonnet, grill and spotlights to fit and hes out on the road..Runs a bit rough at idle but once the revs gat north of 3k it smooths out and picks up very quickly..Aldon red dizzy has made a big difference to the idle...no vacuume advance!!

Not much of an update... Haggis has been running for the past few months with nothing to report really... the engine is very strong and pulls to 7200 no bother in the first three gears, with the new 3.76 diff it pulls to 6000 it top and was still going when I backed it off, I reckon it might go to 6500 in top, but that's over 100 mph with this gearing so fast enough!! 6000 revs is 90 in top which is what I was aiming for, it gets there very quickly!! I have noticed that the clutch is the week point in this build and I will have to upgrade before fitting this engine in the clubman. I also thought I would try a set of 13's that have been lying around the cave for a few years. Sligtly different offset gives a better steering response and the car is better behaved in a straight line. but it doesn't look as good on these wheels.

Might just be the photo or the fact i'm not a fan of revos, but those wheels look sweet.

What size/shape/make are the 13s?

Thanks Minilandy, they are Alleycats. 13x7. They came with the clubman I bought a year or so ago and I was going to sell them on as they are quite heavy. but decided to se what they are like on Haggis. I have to say they are growing on me.

have just read this from start to finish and it has made me very motivated for my second engine rebuild, my 998 turn to the dark side so i got a 1275 metro. stripped it to check everything and found a nice score mark on one of the bores. So no L2B for me but off to the machine shop for what will probably end up as a 1380 build

not sure if i should start a build thread or not

thanks

Matt

You really should start a thread Matt, I have found that looking back over this thread has helped me to remember which bits go where!! Having loads of pictures to reference it a big help!! Or maybe its just because im old now and cant remember stuff.
