Well ive had enough of taking this one to bits as well. So im going to do the same as you and just run it. Thanks for the reply, I do feel better now...My 1380 sounded similar when i first started it up, but i'd had enough and just ran it, now it's fine.

Yeah same as me, spent waaaaaaaaaay to much time messing around with it.
That's what it did sound like, and now it's just a bit tappety...well because the tappets arn't adjusted.
It might just need to bed in a bit. Anyway, the car is looking great, the paint came out good!

Its an excellent cam. Comes on at around 2300 and pulls very well. then at 4500 it seems to give even more uummph. Not sure why that is. Maybe something to do with the scavenging effect at higher revs due to the overlap. But whatever it is....I LIKE IT... And its much smoother with the roller rockers. Still a bit lumpy at idle..but when it comes on the power is very smooth. I reckon it must create a very flat torque curve. it just pulls and pulls. How's the Calver cam with those rockers andy? Thinking of using that cam on my 1330 build.
Was doing a timed run the other night and was only 0.75 seconds off the pace of my mates rally car. Well pleased. But as other people have said the cam will only work at its best if the head is done properly.
I would highly recommend it to you. Its like the kent 286 profile but creats more torque. Perfect for large bore engines.

And while I was in tesco today I came out to find Haggis chatting up this MPI cooper.

Do you just not bother with a front number plate?
Looks good!

I also fitted new spark plugs and adjusted the timing slightly, reset the valve clearances to 16thou, set the mixture a tad leaner and adjusted the tickover. So now Haggis is just about ready for his first proper run after this Epic rebuild. Will take some pics on the run, Im sure a few nice minis will turn up.
