Boot and bonnet in primer.
And this morning I put the inside in primer..
Next job once the primer is dry is to give the outside one more quick rub with wet and dry to remove the overspray and dust and then maybe later on this afternoon I might get the whole car in primer.

Im not happy with it though and will have to sand it back and try again. Did I mention earlier that Im rubbish at spray painting. Oh well its too late now will just have to keep going and hope for the best.

Yeah!! Im going as fast as possible now...Ive got an entry for the Thistle run on the 26th May, so not much time to get things sorted. Paint, Rebuild, Engine in, MOT and a week to find/fix any problems. So need to get my finger out. The thistle run is not a race (Ha Ha), but Im looking forward to a spirited drive through the back roads up to Fort william. Should be fun. Im hoping to get a weeks runing before the event to make sure nothings going to fall off.very nice work indeed... you seem to be firing through this rebuild!

no runs are a race... but almost all the ones ive been on tend to end up with "spirited drives"... LOL
Yep.. Im not a fast driver so couldnt do any racing anyway. This is the biggest Mini run that takes place in scotland so im told!! my first time.
So thats the car all primed and ready for some colour.....cant wait to get the Red paint on.

The pictures dont really show how rough the painting is. I was told that a rub with 1500-2000 wet and dry will take the worst off and then a good polish will make a big difference. I hope so!!!

Thats just a 3:1 mix of Celulose Tartan red (RD9) and thiners. Straight off the gun. not cut it back or polished it yet. Might clear coat it after though.Looks good. Did you go with a single stage paint or did you go with a base + clear?
