Big hammers and a grinder. Its virtually a full tool kit for working on a Mini!!!

Doors off and front subframe off! "Haggis" is now on a pallet with casters. Two fixed and two twirly round ones. It is really easy to whoosh him around on it. Will drop the rear subframe tomorrow and that will be him almost ready for paint. Im really looking forward to getting the spray gun out!! Ive never used one before!! But really... How hard can it be???

Yep im going to have a go!! Bought a compressor thingy and spray gun over the winter.
I want to keep the red with black roof scheme but cant decide on the red!! I want it to look like Blood. A bit creepy I know but I just love the deep red colour. Dont know what to ask the paint store for though, Is blood red even a recognised colour?? Am I a vampire??

I managed to grt the rear subframe off this morning. forgot to dissconnect the hand brake cable, Im such a ******* sometimes...

Then I cut off the lip of the front wings and made a new lip. The wheels were rubbing slightly so thpought this was a good time to get it sorted.

He looks a bit sorry for himself with no wheels or doors.

But soon he will be getting a nice new coat off paint, If I can get my head around how to work this thing.

Instructions are a bit vague to say the least. I powered it up it started to fill with air, After about 3-4 mins the gauge was showing 150psi and then whoosh a lot of air rushed out of somewhere for a few seconds. Ive turned it off for now, will ask at the shop on monday. Maybe some sort of saftey valve or something..

Great project, just read through the lot, I admire your determination with all the problems you've had with it, I would have probably given up a long time ago

Thanks. No i didnt tub the rear. Just gave it all a good clean to get rid of some surface rust that had built up under the arch. A proper paint job should stop the rust for a while. I only rattle can painted it last year after the rebuild, so its overdue a respray.

Tartan red does look fab!! not quite dark enough tho. Some one posted a pic of a car with paint code RD 9..in the paiting forum bit. Id asked for some ideas and got loads of pics of red minis. RD 9 is my favorite so far..

Cool, can't wait to see it =) are you going to wait till the weather is warmer to spray it? or going to set up a big shack with some heaters?

Im going to line the garage with plastic sheeting. Leave the heating on for a week to warm up the shell and then give it a go. Never done it before so hope it turns out ok. It has to be better than the rattle can job I did last year.
