Can anyone ID this master cylinder, both the top and bottom pipe nuts are M10. I am guessing its a black band master cylinder.

Great big thing, lumps on it, badly placed pressure switch.

Congratulations, you have the one no one makes any more as its a pile of arse and biscuits. Think its called a Type 2, comes with yellow and black band. As you have no band and no OTHER INFORMATION about your car I'm going to guess wildly.

If its a black band, you're stuffed. They don't make them or parts for them. You have to upgrade to the type 3 which has larger unions so you need adaptor pipes to fit it to your car.

Shop around, you can find a master cylinder WAY cheaper (mine was £30 odd).

Looks like GMC 167, the unions should be 3/8unf.

Thanks for the reply.

I am changing my brakes from a single line to tandem. I am going to run the rear brake line to an adjustable bias valve and run the front brake line straight to the front brakes.

I was hoping that I could use this master cylinder. I could try and find a kit here in NZ, never know someone may have a couple lying about somewhere.

Thanks, I only quickly measured the OD of the nuts, didnt check the pitch or TPI. You are right though, OD is slightly under 10mm.

You can still get repair kits for 'em. The 'leccy connector on the side is for a pressure failure warning - I'm not 100% sure it will work with a front rear split, it was originally diagonal, but I don't see why it shouldn't.
