Hey,

1, Remove the wiper arms. ( there push fit so they should just pull off.)
2, Disconnect the battery.
3, Withdraw the electrical cable terminal connector from motor. ( if there is a seperate earth wire detach that aswell.)
4, Undo the nut securing the cable rack guide tube to wiper motor gear box.
5, Undo and remove the two motor strap retaning screws and lift of strap.
6, Carefully withdraw the motor assembly pulling the cable rack from the guide tubes.

Hope this helps

Chris

remove the wipe arms. unscrew the motor securing strap. end of the motor is the tube securing nut, undo that.

Now the motor and drive cable will pull out of the tube. may be a bit of resistance.

ha ha snap

Not sure if I have got this right.

Do I pull the cable out of the sheath or remove the whole lot in one??

Pull the cable out of the steel tube. Don't forget to remove the complete wiper arms off the spindles or else as the cable pulls out it will try and spin the arm through 360 degrees and then some

I stripped mine down and cleaned all the moving parts including the "chain"... removed the old grease and gunk, then relubed with spray chain grease.
Works a treat now even on a dry windscreen, before the screen needed to be damp before they would move.

Hi Irostoke,

The chain ???

is this inside the metal tubing or does it mean stripping the motor, or both ?? :P

thanks, again,

Graham

I call it the chain its the spiral cable that runs inside the tube and operates the spindles.

Undo the large nut on the motor that attaches the pipe, the cable/chain will pull out

That's a wheel box and you've pretty much stripped it as far as you sensibly can. If it is seized and you can't free it with penetrating oil/WD40 and working back and forth then it will need replacing:

Is the tube with the bend in it a separate part? If so where can I get a replacement?
