Yes sorry I dumped the original pictures a while back. This was a project the boys down the garage wanted to try to work out to conform to the MoT regs. I'm very happy with it (it's all removable so conventional diagonal belts can be put back) but next time I'll go for a four-point harness instead of three provided that doesn't displease the insurance company.

There are a few in photobucket http://smg.photobuck...arness and bar/

Thats very do-able, my only worry is that the bar sits quite high and not sure how that might affect its performance?? Do you have bucket seats in at present, if so could you measure how high the cut-outs are for the harnesses. Ta ;-)

I dont at present, but will be fitting cobra cubs (the ones with the smaller "bucket") when the bar goes in.

In theory, shouldnt the harnesses and bar be fine if they were "high?"
its only if there really low that they become a problem....? i may be wrong but I thought that was the issue?.

That was my thinking as well but maybe because its only ever mentioned about them being lower lol Dont suppose many people fit them higher up, will have a think and ask a few people but if its not a problem then doing a bolt in bar fixing to the seat belt mounting point will be a piece of cake.

My only worry is smacking my head on it in an accident, but I can pad it (as im pretty sure it will be higher than my cubs)

approx how much would it be for the pick up bar?

Yes, they are high-back padded buckets. E.L.M.O. used a pic of Huey showing the position of the seat cut-outs in relation to the bar. The bar locates the belts and takes some of the strain but also passes it down to the eye-bolts and spreader plates in the rear bulkhead, which you can see in one of the photobucket pix is butted up against a seam for the best available strength. The angle of the harness straps from shoulder to bar is important but I can't find the regs we consulted. I'll measure the height of the cut-outs from the seat squab when I get a chance.
Hope this helps.

I wouldn't like to have a bar that height without high seats fror protection.
I don't know what the bar would normally cost. It was via a friend of a friend.

Yes it does worry me..... Do you think even if the bar was padded its a bad idea? At the end of the day its a bar or a glass window to put my head through. Part of me thinks id rather take a padded bar vs the rear class window?

The cub seats are very low and Id really rather not have the seats in front of the bar because of the extra limit to leg room this would mean.

Wouldnt like a bar there myself without considerable padding, if there is no support behind your head then in the event of even a small bump it will be thrown about considerably, this is why all modern cars have seats with headrests that come up past the head. The cost would be the same as my other bars on here, currently 40.00 but I would prefer to know that you will be installing some sort of padding or high back seats before I supply to you. Let me know if you would like to proceed.

Ive been giving this some thought....

Could the bar be designed, so that it fits between the top of the seat and the head rest (obviously the head rest would need to pretty much be fully extended) or would this out the bar at to lower angle....?

Will need to have another look in the pickup. The reason it ended up so high was that it used the standard belt mounting point and the cutout in the B pillar if I remember correctly. If you mount in a different way (which sadly might affect how far the seat goes back) then it can go lower down and not really a problem then as your head wont hit it. I will five it some more thought when I am down the unit tomoro and see what else I can come up with ;-)

Thanks Jon.
If it helps to know the seats are going to be Cobra / Speedwell cubs (NOT CLASSICS)
like these:
