Wow, I never realised there was an alternative for spraying ( or rather having sprayed ).

Good Job. The reason you are getting the Orange peel is because of the drying time and flattening after each coat. I have painted my car using Rustolem, but the steps that I followed (as per Bungle) are:

1. Paint
2. Leave to dry for 2-3 days (if hot) or longer for colder days.
3. Flatten with fine wet & dry.
4. Panel wipe.
5. Paint again.

You can see the results on my project page (link here) on post 22 and you can see how clean it comes out.

by the way I used Avenue coating as well, great guys and if you order by phone you get the paint within 2 days.
