You can use thinners to clean then gun but if you use it to wipe over panels you will remove some paint especially if freshly applied. Why? Admittedly it may well be less than ideal as a cleaner, as well as more expensive, but I can remember using it for all jobs back in the day and if anyone is doing a small job it may prove cheaper than buying 3 products.

I've never used proper panel wipe, but I don't think it's thinners, it's more a solvent to remove grease and wax etc.
FWIW thinners will not dissolve the good quality cataphoretic paint applied to the better quality panels. - it will get the cheaper matt(er) black paint off the cheaper parts. - It will also get the labels off pretty well. I did exactly this just the other day.
Mart.

because gunwash and paint thnners have other things in them. so if you use them to clean a panel it will leave deposits on the panel. panel wipe is to remove silicone and draw out remaining moisture from the surface.
if you are going todo a job do it properly also panel wipe can be used for lots of jobs it's well worth having.

thinners = different types eg, gun wash for cleaning out the gun, standard for primmer and first coats of paint, premium thinners for gloss /top coats, anti bloom etc.
panel wipe = not thinners but solvent for removing wax, grease etc.
( because gunwash and paint thnners have other things in them. so if you use them to clean a panel it will leave deposits on the panel. panel wipe is to remove silicone and draw out remaining moisture from the surface)) never heard of it drawing out moisture on the surface.
using celly thinners as a panel wipe on celly paint if left to long will soften the paint and drag it across the surface.

yes I can't prove it works but have been advised that it dose work, we often use it if filler gets wet and after wet flatting.

I will speak to my rep.......... intrigued now.
Dont quote me on this, But I think the alcohol in the PanelWipe mixes with the liquid/moisture on the surface then evaporates.
