roofless is the man to speak to. he will have all the pros and cons etc.
it will be a lot easier to repair if some little *melon* keys your mini though lol. just get a repair section and the heat gun out lol.

This was taken at IMM last summer.
The work was done by it's previous owner, so I don't know who actually stuck the vinyl down.
Yes, the vinyl protects the paint below from chipping and minor scuffs etc, but at the same time we're finding that water can get down wee gaps , like down the seams, and when it does it very slowly peels that bit away. It also isn't a good idea leaving it pooling in these bits, so we cut small drainage slots at the bottom of these bits. There's no problems at all on flat open panels, so doors boot and bonnet are cool.
If it was my car and I wanted a design that wasn't paintable (like above) or was so intricate that cost was prohibitive, then yes I'd get a wrap.
If it was a solid colour or even a mild design then I'd get it repainted.

Forgot to say.... the wrap itself can be washed, glazed and waxed no problem. It also gives a lovely shine when properly cleaned. An abrasive cleaner or polish will defo damage it!! I wouldn't clay it either just in-case. A nice filler heavy glaze like Blackhole, EZ Creme or Meg #7 work well on vinyl.
It wont ever have the same shine as an actualy pain job will it?

Having said that, if you went mental and got a wrap with a foiled type vinyl to it, you'd get a hell of a shine off that. Also, a patterned finish can hide any lack of shine as there's so much going on in it.
Scott's is now maybe 18months with it's wrap on and it's still as shiny as it was when it was first done.
