It will come out with work, if it is really so stuck that damage to the cable is likely, then a junior hacksaw cut into the caliper to the cable (take care when near the cable itself) will help free it off, take a look at the new caliper you will see that how the cable sits into the hole.The groove is there to hold the protective rubber boot on when you pull it all together, it is not a seat for a circlip, although it does look that way in my pictures!
Yep - looks like it should just pull out but it is stuck so fast with no movement I feel there must be something I am missing! If I hit it any harder I will damage it....

And I am guessing that the OP has had to pay a surcharge on the calliper, which will be lost if the calliper is damaged

I'd take a look at your new calliper, it might shine some new light on how the cable is held in place and from which side
