It seems a lot of people cash In big time with anything to do with car restorations etc. I was talking to another mobile welder the other day who I came across with my work and he was telling me how much he charged his exact words " I charge as much as I can possibly get away with, because people will pay". and he said he was busier than he as ever been. I don't doubt the quality of his work but I know I would not be able to sleep at night if I was charging the rates he mentioned. There are a lot of good people out there who will do a good job for a fair price, but always will be people who will try milk it. I always tell the people I do welding for to get at least three quotes and do your research. failing that buy yourself a decent welder, practice for a few days and then do it yourself.

Reasons like that

Is what made me do research into car restoration garages around me, and as said getting various quotes. In actual fact the guy I use tried to save me few quid on bits that I didnt need to to replace.

It pays off to shop around, go visit the workshops and get reviews from others that have used them. Its why I ended up choosing Steve at Sleaford Mini Centre. You only have to take one step in the door to see the professionalism of the outfit and the quality of his work. I spoke to several customers about what to expect, worts and all!

The garage my lad took his mini to for paint was owed the stiff end of £35K for a bloody Spitfire resto??

I don't get how they think it's acceptable to run up such a large bill??

I can't see a customer accepting that easily, you know they'd kick up a stink and refuse to pay!?!

You'd need everything in writing if you were going to charge that kind of bill.
