Model: City
Year: 1982
Description of problem
Ive just bought some new Gmax shock absorbers to replace the standard worn out ones, but when coming to fit them on the front the Gmax are smaller and dont fit, i thought the Gmax ones would replace the standard ones without the car being lowered or is this not the case?

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?

If I remember correctly Gmax are lowered by 20mm. So they won't fit on standard suspension unless the cones in poor nick? If you want to fit them you could get some HiLos.

When I fitted my replacement dampers on mini - i found that i needed to support the disc assambly on a jack to get the bolt through the lower part of the schoker. i put this down to the new dampers having more resistance in them than the old ones

they are the same shocks that i have, they are for lowered minis, being abit shorter so not to bottom out like a standard height shock would do on a lowered mini!

you would prob end up wreckin them lol they wont give the right ammount of travel downwards so will bang and crash about, when on the rebound from pot holes etc, best to fit your old ones back on the front for now, and get some hi-lows fitted and lower your mini slightly at the front for maximum effect
