5pw is injection, the dynojet commander is a valuable addition but is not needed immediately, you can add it later very easily. It's a unit that allows to adjust fuelling by over-riding the settings on the factory ecu.
It's a plug and play unit with 2 simple connections that atatch to the yamaha part of the loom you will be adding to the mini
Look for a second hand unit, don't buy new, and the optional additional small LCD screen is a very useful extra as it allows you to see what is going on without having to connect your laptop

It is definatley worth getting a power commander.
As it will need a new fuel map because you'll end up using a different exhaust and air filter to standard when fitting to the car (Different air flows and exhaust back pressures afffect air / fuel mix required).
Going to a dyno is the best thing to do.
But dependign on where you live depends on where and if there is a facility any wher near you able to do a bike engine car.
The other uption is to fit a Dynojet Wideband commander(not wideband commander 2) as well.
ok this costs abit more than a dyno secion might but you get a real time Air / fuel ratio meter for the dash
+ it can data log for 10min and record rpm throttle position and mixture via wideband lamda sensor in exhaust.
This give you all the info need to adjust the fuel map in the right areas.
bonus is you can make up the map yourself from the data logged.
so the real life road we drive on becomes your rolling road.
I have fitted it to mine and am in the process of making up my own map.
