Swore at it, changed the battery, took grill off, put the plastic weather protector back in place, replaced grill, grimaced at the signs of rust then sighed and realised I can't afford to get that fixed, took it out for a spin for the 1st time in a week with a huge grin on my face. Not a bad day really.

oh and booked it into a garage for a check up.

F'd and blinded at the carb as the car endlessly turned over but wouldnt start. Took the carb off. Took it to pieces. Cleaned it. Put it back together and now its sitting on my desk all shiney. Tomorrow I shall go back to f'ing and blinding when I put it back on and it still wont start! Ho hum....

Sound proofed the whole of the inside of the car. Re-wired the amp and speaker wires and fitted one of my Focal component speakers and tweeter. Tomorrows tasks: Second component and tweeter, fix blowing exhaust, remove seat tilt locking things, wire in amps, bolt seats into car, build sub box, re-fit carpet, build turbo engine, fit engine, drive psssht.

Maybe a bit optimistic to do it all tomorrow? More likely to take a few months but i'll get the ball rolling tomorrow

Today after a good few days graft I took my mini for its first MOT in my ownership and she passed with flying colours! The car only got one advisory which was slight play to the front wheel bearings. The play in them is absolutely minimal!

I have only had the car a few weeks and the lead up to the MOT I carried out the following work to the car

Let the work commence
Posted Image

Welding here and there [minimal]
Radiator repaired by a local specialist
Second hand cylinder head
New exhaust
New front brake pipe from master cylinder to n/s/f wheel
Bulbs replaced where required
Brake light switch
Brake fluid changed for new stuff
Brakes adjusted
Fuel pump gaskets
Fuel lines
Greased suspension components
Thermostat
Thermostat housing
Fan belt
Water pump & bypass hose
Heavy duty tie bars and poly bushes
CV boot
New boot straps
Screen wash hoses renewed
Good second hand interior
Bulkhead under the bonnet resprayed
Whole car undersealed/ stone chipped

This is the last week of my holiday so hopefully the weather will stay nice so I can take the car out and about and start enjoying it.

Best regards, Sean

I fitted some speakers in the door pockets today, connected them up to my amp and got rid of the 6x9's in the back! All this resulted in a much better sound stage and I am finally enjoying music in good quality in the mini.
